Do you possess the constitution?

- Il Duce: The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far is as needed?”

 

Last night I had the privilege to attend Hancock Lodge and a 65-year pin. Just think about that, 65 years. That speaks volumes for this Brother. Maybe it is because he came from a different time? One of our Past Grand Masters stood up and spoke about his commitment to the Lodge and the Fraternity. Of all the different groups within the Masonic Family, he was a member of. Then our Brother stood up and spoke about his love for the Craft.

This was a breath of fresh air. We seem to have become a society that is quick to just discard things. A Bic lighter, a cell phone, a car, people? When the use gets worn out, we just discard them. That speaks volumes too.

In the last 65 years, this Brother made an investment. Not only in his future, but in yours. I know what you are thinking. How so, Right Worshipful? I do not even know this Brother. How does his involvement touch me at all?

Because what happens to one happens to all. Maybe a different Lodge, Jurisdiction, etc. But The investment he made in the last 65 years strengthens that Craft. BTW, he did not start his Masonic Journey in Kansas. So he has assisted and supported Brothers from all over

While I can not speak for him it would appear this Brother saw something worthwhile and helped build it (and himself) into something better. THAT is the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far is as needed.

Congratulations Brother…..Well Done.

      Last night at Lodge I was asked to give some Masonic Ed. Not really having much prepared I just talked off the top of my head. I asked the question “Why are we here?” It’s always fair question and should be asked ever time we enter Temple. As Masons we are and should be selfish. I know some will question that. But we are Masons to better ourselves. Or in my opinion should be. We are here to work on who we are, not who we were. The person we were yesterday is gone. Today is all that matters. Living in the moment. Tending our wick so we can be a light to ourselves. But I also said that is Masonry is left in the Temple is will burn out and die. We are the light in a darkened world. By living what we believe we can and do change the World. How that is done is up to the Mason. So go to Temple. Learn the lessons taught there, embrace them, share them. This is the way. Three Classes of Men

        “There are three classes of men; lovers of wisdom, lovers of honor, and lovers of gain.” Plato With in Masonry the number three is important. Three ages of men. Three degrees of enlightenment. Three greater and lesser lights. Now we see three classes of men. To love wisdom is not always easy. It takes digging with in yourself to find knowledge and apply it. Keep what speaks to you and discard what doesn’t. Lovers of honor and keep to high ideals and principles. Keeping to your word. Knowing you are part of the world but you are not the whole of it. If we keep to and love these simple (yet complex ideas) we become lovers of the growth and gain we experience. This is but one of the keys to our beloved Craft. Dark Night of the Soul

  I woke up this morning and was thinking about St. John of The Crosses poem. It was called The Dark Night of the Soul. It is something we all go through and it is normally never pleasant. A time when we question dang near everything and wonder where we really stand with ourselves and the rest of the World. As per the quote below this is a required thing for growth. A time when the GAOTU "breaks us down" to build us back up. “There can be no rebirth without a dark night of the soul, a total annihilation of all that you believed in and thought that you were.”― Hazrat Inayat Khan I will be honest I hate this time of the year. Its dark when I wake up and dark again by about 5:00pm. The light and the sun seem to be in hiding. The warmth is gone and replaced by winters chill and freezing cold.
