Cracks in your teacup
Accept the things to which fate binds you, and love
the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your
heart."– Marcus Aurelius
Wow, Thanks Marcus. I really needed that one today.
Accept the things to which fate binds us.
So, you mean I don’t get to lay on the floor and throw a temper tantrum?
Well fine, thanks a lot. I mean you
could but man you’d look kind of silly.
So, as I read and re-read this thought a few times this
morning. Honestly, I have seen it multiple times in my life. But, as I stopped
to really think about it. Why do we think fate is always bad? Are we so geared
up for the negative that we miss the beauty that comes out if the process?
Fate is not always bad. Sometimes the process is a bit unpleasant.
Sometimes and let's be honest the journey just sucks. But in the end it is
making a different you that before. I wrote once about teacups in Japan that
were cracked and broken. An artist would take them and fill the cracks with
gold. Not only making them a beautiful piece of art, but very valuable too.
The other part of this thought is about loving people.
Not only loving them but loving them with your whole heart. I could go down a
rabbit hole of who is worthy of love and how we are all connected by the Divine
Creator. Yes, even to that AHole that did XYZ. You are still connected to that
dude, sorry.
People can come and go, and often in our lives do. They
each leave a mark on our teacup. Each mark is a learning experience that helps
shape us one way or another. But, do you
know who fate has bound you to eternally? Yourself. Remember the body is a
shell and a garment we wear it is the Spirit that is the true being. We are
after all spiritual being having a human experience.
Are you going to have bumps and bruises, cracks, and
imperfections? Of course, you are embrace them and love yourself anyway. They
(like that cup) make you unique, and priceless.
Will people watch you on your journey and talk about your
“scars” and “markings”? Yep, they will do this for one of two reasons. To brag
about how far you have come. Or because they cannot see theirs.
I love you and may we govern ourselves accordingly
