Power?

Today is another twofer. I guess this is what happens when I take  a day off work sipping more coffee than anyone really needs.  If there even is such a thing.

Lets discuss power. But, not just any power, lets discuss power with intention. If we look at the Hermetic Law that the Universe is mind and everything is a thought form. It would be safe to say that power begins in the mind. I will agree that this is true. When does that thought become real? Yes, I would also agree with the moment it “pops” in your head. But let’s go a bit further.

You have a thought. It pops in there. Takes up residency for a bit. The more it lives there it expands and builds on. It takes another wing of your mind called the emotions. You get a feeling about this thing. Until in time, you give birth to it through words.

Now these words impact you. I mean after all they are your thoughts, feelings, and intentions. Which BTW for those that did not know. From a Magickal standpoint this is basic spellwork. It is a very Magickal act.

But these intentions that you have just given birth to impact any and everyone around you. Even if said under your breath, people hear them and remember.  Let me give a couple of examples.

One day a few years ago we were doing degree work. I was playing a specific role. One I really enjoy and if I face you, you will not forget (IYKYK). I heard across the room a Past Master telling some one “See I told you they did not know what they were doing”.  Now, that kinda bumbed me out. But more importantly if I heard it the Brother getting the degree heard it and it altered his experience. Was that the intent? No, I do not think so at all. But it was the outcome. Oh BTW, the ritual is “perfect” while it is being done. If it needs help after the fact. Work on it, then not during the degree.  This interaction was one of the reasons when it was my term in the East. I made it very clear we would not have people “put down” during a stated meeting or degree who were honestly trying. Someone would be going home and I can guess who.

Now let’s look at a couple other examples.

I was at the first Masoniccon here in Kansas. We had lectures and discussions all morning. The MC called me up and asked me to say the prayer over lunch. As I stood up I passed a Brother, and I heard in a very low voice. “This is going to be good”.  Three years ago, but I remember his kind words of encouragement. I stepped up with my shoulders a bit more square and asked for the Blessing over the meal. That Brother has encouraged me a time or two since and I always look forward to attending Temple with him.

Another time at my home temple (again temple is the building, lodge the people) I had a Brother come up to me and talk about when I was chaplain. I do not saw the prayer from the scripted cypher. He said it was so meaningful for him when I would pray during our meeting and asked if I knew what I was going to say beforehand. No, Brother, not till my knee hits the riser. Its all on the fly. More meaningful that way. His smile and kind words meant the world to me. Still do.

Thoughts and words have power. More than we think sometimes.  Maybe that is why in my OES obligation it says I will not speak evil or preform an unkindness against.  

So let me ask this. Do the words you speak into creation (remember you’re not a drop, you are the ocean) lift not only yourself up, but those around you? Also do your thoughts, infused with intention, mirror your words? Because you are creating Magick, for you and those around you.
