Demons in Masonry?
“A place where no creature must enter.” – William
Shakespeare
Let me start by saying I value good theater. The hard work
that goes into the craft of the thespian. This is from William Shakespeares play Macbeth.
It is referencing inner growth and solitude. It asks us where we can find our
own inner peace.
I have always said I wanted this page to be open, honest and
raw. It is how we learn and grow. For
those that know me, you know I have struggled for a while. If you know you know
and if you don’t, that’s ok. I am not going in to details as there is no need.
I am using this time to focus on myself and my ashlar.
Today I saw a meme that was titled “What a Demon Really is”. Are
there Demons within Masonry? Yes and No.
There are no Demons within the institution of the Masonic Order as much
as Conspiracy theorist would like to
believe there are. Now when we talk
about “Demons” the first thing most think about is the “bogy man” and that evil
spirit that is going to make you spit pea soup and speak in a Latin.
Maybe part of that is right or none of it is. Are Demons real? Yes, but I do not believe in
the way I have been taught from my religious upbringing. I believe that they are a part of that “Shadow”
self I wrote about a while back.
Demons are not hiding in the dark. They are the wound that
never fully healed. That sore spot in your life that when it gets brushed at
just the right angle makes you wince and hide back within yourself or pass
judgement on all those around you.
Demons always wear a mask although sometimes easy to see
right through. The person that celebrates your pain more than your peace. A
person that tries to control you through guilt.
Maybe they do not realize they are doing it but they are.
A Demon is a spiritual frequency. They feed on and require
shame, envy, fear, confusion, anger, and depression to survive. They lust after
it. They require it. They also jump from one willing vessel to another leaving
chaos in their wake.
Masonry teaches us who we are. Not who we profess to be but
who we are. It gives us the tools to be better human beings and face that inner
darkness and sheds a bit of light on it. Illuminating the darkness of our souls
we do not really want to look at.
This is why to me Masonry is a very spiritual journey. It is
a path of healing. Not a social club, or a civic group. But, and I chuckle as
it is the first thing that popped in my head. It’s a “Spiritual Hospital” for
those of any faith who really and honestly want to take a look in their
personal darkness.
Now Demons do not fear crosses. They fear truth, boundaries,
love over fear, understanding, knowing you are not perfect and accepting your shortcomings.
Every truth you speak. Every moment you look in the mirror
and say “Yep, I need work but I am worthy and I will get there .” You are preforming a personal exorcism…and healing
that old wound.
Demons fear consciousness.
Because once you remember who you are, they lose a host.
I love you and may we govern ourselves according.
