The Triangle of Manifestation
Some may not feel this thought is related to Masonry, but it
is related to life. That, in turn, is very Masonic. There are things in this
thought I will allude to, but not go into details. For good reasons. The first
being I do not want to be seen as violating a “Masonic Secret,” and second, I
want to give you something to research yourself.
Yesterday, while at a Masonic meeting, I was talking with a
young Brother. His age does not really matter much (if at all), but I am twice
his age plus a bit. Wanna make an Old Past Master feel old? There you have it.
He knows my background, as I am not very shy about it. I
write about my exposure to Magick and how I blend it with Masonry all the time.
It is really one of the reasons I author these articles, the two blend nicely. Again,
Magick is the art of causing change within will, and Masonry gives you the
tools to do so. By the way, so do other systems and spiritual paths.
So, as we talked, he asked me about a specific Magickal
System. Told me of some documents he was looking at from the 1800s and showed
me an image on his phone that set me back a bit. Please understand I am not passing judgment on
this Brother, nor am I calling him out. But the discussion caused me to think a
bit, and I felt maybe I should write about those thoughts.
The image was that of a “Ceremonial Circle” and a “Triangle of Manifestation” in
front of it. It was/is believed that the setup of that space you can summon
Angels, and well, ya, the other guys to do the wishes of the Magician. That is,
from a Ceremonial Magician's point of view, it is NOT Masonic.
What is Masonic about the “Triangle of Manifestation”? We as
Masons are builders. We use the tools given to us to become better people. That
work does not come easy, nor should it. Most folks use Magick as a “quick fix.” I am not saying that is the intent of this
Brother. But, in the 20+ years I have studied, I have found it to be the norm. Light
a candle, say a few words, and “Poof,” all your problems are gone, right? Kinda
like Prayer? No, they are not.
The ”triangle” is made of three parts. Interesting number 3.
3 Great Lights, 3, Lesser, 3 Principle officers or the Lodge, 3 Degrees, Humm…Interesting,
eh?
But for all of this to work, three things have to align.
Body, mind, and spirit? Time, energy, and focus? Desire, intent, focus? Pick
your three.
While in Ceremonial Circles, we are taking the external and bringing
it to us. Within Masonry, we are taking the internal and bringing it out.
There is a saying, “Be careful what you call forth; make
sure you can send it back.” Same idea here. What happens if you find something
and you have “summoned” from within yourself, and you cannot get rid of it? No
matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to chip off that piece of stone?
Every day is a ritual, and you are always within that “Magickal
Circle.” I say this because we are on the Earth and every breath is a Magickal action.
It is fueled with purpose and intent. We may lack focus sometimes, but it is
still a magickal act.
Be careful what we “think” we want and need. Be careful and
mind our emotions, thoughts, and intentions. Sometimes they do not always serve
us the way we think they should, and once invoked can be unruly.
Lastly, as mentioned before….Do NOT invoke what you can not banish.
I love you, and may we govern ourselves accordingly.
