Reason for the Season?
I have been seeing a few posts talking about the “Reason for
the Season”. We are approaching an
interesting time of the year. A time when all faiths are seeking light.
But what do I wish for you most? Darkness. Yep, you heard me
right. I want you to see the darkest thing you can. Let me explain.
There are a few stories I have heard and read about
concerning different faiths. The Menorah burned for 8 days with very little
oil. Not enough to extend that long. In the Christian faith, the birth of Christ
in a manger was hunted by a rabid king seeking his destruction. Yet we
celebrate these events this time of year? Why?
Well, this is a season when we are rushing to the darkest
night. Within Masonry, we are approaching the day of Saint John the Evangelist.
Or for others, the Winter Solstice. He was the herald of the Light. The one standing in the darkness as a gateway.
There are so many faiths, from the Abrahamic faiths to Pagan,
that hold this season on high regard. Again, why….well the return of the light.
I have talked about this time of year being a “personal
Chamber of Reflection.” We are about to
become enlightened. To gain deeper insight into ourselves.
So again I say I want you to face the darkness….that “dark night
of the soul”.
Because when the light returns…it will be the most vibrant
you will have ever seen.
Here is a real kicker. I also say that the light of Masonry
shown in to a darkened world will save it. How can we do that if we do not face
our own darkness?
I love you and may we govern ourselves accordingly
